You are self-employed and need health insurance.  So where do you start? It’s not as difficult to find a solution as you might think.  There are several good insurance carriers out there and most of them offer individual insurance products.  Each company’s product may resemble the other products available but there are going to be some differences.  What I do is help people sort that out, and advise on the best product. It’s going to be a different solution for each person.

We look at plans side-by-side and compare – picking out the best value for the price.  We need to determine what options are important to you.  Some companies offer maternity coverage, some don’t.  Some companies have a great dental policy, some don’t.  Some products are simply way too expensive to be considered competitive.  But if you are just surfing for rates online, how will you know?  That’s what I do every day.

I am an independent health insurance agent, which simply means I don’t work for the insurance company.  I work for you.  I walk you through all the available plans in order to choose the best one.  If you were to ask your auto insurance agent for a quote on health insurance, there is a very good chance that you will get one company to choose from.  That is not going to give you anything to compare.  In Tennessee, I have six health insurance companies we can look at.  I am licensed in 15 states, each having it’s own set of insurance comapnies and products.  I only offer plans from companies I believe in.

We pick the plan.  Then we apply.  The information goes to the insurance company’s underwriting department for a consideration.  Sometimes an application goes through in the same day, sometimes it takes awhile.  It all depends on the answers to the health questions.  It’s best to get started now.

One of the things I find myself always telling people is that the rates that you are quoted by me are the same rates you can get by calling the insurance company directly.  I am a value-added service.  It costs you no money to have me help you, but I can save you money by directing you to the right insurance plan.  And next year, if something else out there is better, I will call you to let you know.  You don’t get that service without an independent agent.

So give me a call and let’s make sure you have the right health insurance.
