Have you gotten your flu shot?

2018 was one of the deadliest years for the flu in decades, according to the CDC, with over 80,000 American victims.

Of course I didn’t want my family to deal with the flu, so last week we trekked over to the local minute clinic in one of the national pharmacy chains. It went a lot better than last year. In 2017 we went to another pharmacy’s clinic that happened to be out of network with our health insurance and ended up costing us some money. (oops!)

This time, I made sure to do my homework: I not only checked to make sure we would be in-network and that they had the flu shot in stock for all four of us. Also, I found out that some pharmacies will not administer shots to children until a certain age, and kids get a different shot than adults – so I had to be specific. We found a pharmacy that met our needs and ended up getting right in and right out. No worries on this topic until next year. And it was free!

Go get it done. But check to make sure your insurance covers it.
